New York City is a big place, with many neighbourhoods which offer different, but attractive things. If you’re a theatre guy / girl, then Chelsea might be the best place for you. Downtown Manhattan is obviously the best choice for a business-oriented lifestyle, but if you’re looking for an all-around place, one which has it all in abundance but won’t overwhelm you the day you get there, then Midtown West is probably your best bet.
If you’re looking for an apartment in midtown west, expect to get a central location, with easy access to some of New York’s best activities.
Here are some of the hottest locations inside Midtown West:
Madison Square Garden
One of the busiest locations in the entire country, and the New York City’s largest arena, the Madison Square Garden is a home to the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.
It’s also host to some of the best (and always sold-out) shows, professional and high-level amateur sports, as well as world-class musical acts. It is located on top of the City’s central railroad hub, the Penn Station. It’s a must-see location.
Theatre District
When something is called the Theatre District, expect some classy theatres. Running from 40th Street to 54th Street, the neighbourhood is home to worldwide popular venues including the Nederlander, the Eugene O’Neill Theater and Studio 54, as well as the one and only Times Square.
Museum of Modern Art
If you are a fan of fine arts, Midtown West will treat you with some of the best art in the world. The Museum of Modern Arts, or MoMA, is located on the 53rd street, between the Fifth and the Sixth Avenue. There you can find some of the greatest classics in fine arts, including Picasso’s ‘Les Demoiselles d’Avignon’, ‘The Persistence of Memory’ by Salvador Dali, or van Gogh’s ‘the Starry night’. Definitely worth checking out.
The Time Warner Center
If you’re not a shopaholic, The Time Warner Center will turn you into one, without a single doubt. This neighbourhood represents New York City’s luxury shopping at its best. This is a place where you can go to shop, entertain yourself and treat yourself to some of the best dinners and best wine you can possibly find. The Center offers many pleasures: it has a hotel, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Whole Foods Market condos, all that besides being the Time Warner’s HQ.
Midwest offers much more than what can fit inside a single article, and if I kept on going, I’m afraid I might end up writing a book. The three places listed here are definitely not the most important places to see, but they are surely worth your time.
